Series / Indian Valley
Swept into a corner of the northern Sierra Nevada mountains is a place called Beautiful Indian Valley, home to several rural communities. Formerly a mining community dating back to the gold rush era, this region has been methodically stripped of it’s industries: mining and timber. In few places can the impact and repercussions of California’s economic and environmental policies be so vividly demonstrated. The communities of Beautiful Indian Valley are an eclectic collection, each with it’s own vibrant personality. These photographs are meant to capture the essence of life in this environment.
