Indian Valley
Swept into a corner of the northern Sierra Nevada moauntains is a place called Beautiful Indian Valley, home to several rural communities. Formerly a mining community dating back to the gold rush era, this region has been methodically stripped of its industries: mining and timber. In few places can the impact and repercussions of California’s economic and environmental policies be so vividly demonstrated. The communities of Beautiful Indian Valley are an eclectic collection, each with its own vibrant personality. These photographs are meant to capture the essence of life in this rural part of California.
On August 4th, 2021 the #dixiefire destroyed my husbands home town of Greenville, California. I have been photographing the area since Nick and I first met so without a doubt I went back to document the remains this Spring. Check my IG for pics or email me.
